HEART LIKE A WHEEL - HIT STUDIO INTERNATIONAL, JAPAN FUJI TV - 1990

After the first of many absences  THL returned in 1990 with a new sound and a new look. Phil had gone back to long hair, Jo kept the same cute Jo but with a bit of 'off the shoulder' action. But Susan (now a very cute 27 year old) was totally transformed! The 'girl from Topshop' look had long gone by 1987, but by 1990 now had the harsh late '80s style of post 'Crash', which frankly did her no favors. 1990 and the album 'Romantic?' heralded a look which can best be described (which she will hate)  80% Supermodel & 20% Rock chick! Probably her most 'glossy' style ever  The label 'Stunning' was justifiably applied by the media at the time , and it has applied ever since.

Another album dubbed 'a comeback', as they all are.  Romantic? didn't do at all well in the UK Charts. This excellent single being the only one to break the Top 40, undeservedly only reaching No 29. The lyrics although 17 years old are  prophetic when they are now applied to "the war on terror"

This is a live performance for a show called 'Hit Studio International' for the Japanese Fuji TV station. Filmed in UK's Limehouse Studios this was never seen on UK TV. The scrolling title in Japanese gives a brief resume of THL "The Human League formed in 1978, Album Dare and Single DYWM 1981, No 1 Album Crash 1986"
